On-going and Future Work
The West Virginia Statewide Wood Energy Team is progressively working with industry
partners and stakeholders toward the installation including the poultry grower
and processer, Allegheny Wood Products, Appalachian Wood Pellets, and New Horizon
Corporation to achieve a wood boiler installation on a poultry production house
in West Virginia.
- Continue to analyze biomass availability data and identify potential biomass suppliers
- Continue to identify and map potential biomass suppliers
- Further develop logistics and cost factors in terms of procurement radius for targeted
poultry growers
- Monitor poultry house conditions and benefits at site with installed wood energy
system
- Outreach to inform additional poultry growers of wood energy conversion and benefits
with demo case from installed system
